Excerpt :
By transcending the ” Femme-Maison” of Louise Bourgeois and the domestic boundaries of the feminine archetype, the concept of ” Femme-Territoire” emerges as a bold claim to expand the symbolic space allotted to women, moving beyond the domestic confines often imposed to both feminin and textiles. This conceptual evolution is crucial for freeing women from restrictive roles that confine them within the home, allowing them to claim and redefine their place in broader, more inclusive territories. By expanding their sphere of influence, women are no longer limited to a domestic domain but are empowered to explore and occupy public, political, and cultural spaces, which have traditionally been dominated by masculine structures.
Through monumental art installations, I explore the archetype of the ” Femme-Territoire,” which embodies a feminist vision of architecture distinct from that of Vitruvian Man or Le Corbusier’s Modulor. This aesthetic, inspired by the matrix, textile, femininity, and geometry, does not simply replicate old power structures. It actively seeks to redefine space by embracing principles of equity, respect, and inclusion. This paradigm shift could become a fundamental pillar in constructing a built environment that reflects and supports a more just and harmonious society.
